Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a treatment technique that focuses on the function of your pelvic floor muscles. When you experience chronic pelvic pain, you may have pelvic floor muscles that are hypertonic, meaning they are overly tight.

The physiotherapist you work with will give you relaxation techniques and exercises to help you relax and release those pelvic floor muscles. When the tension in those muscles is reduced, you will be able to continue to build strength in your pelvic floor and improve upon your chronic pelvic pain with various exercises and techniques, which will be a combination of mental and physical exercises.
